Greenwood Golf at the 4th Annual African American Golf Expo & Forum – Exciting Highlights!

The 4th Annual African American Golf Expo and Forum in Palm Beach was more than just an event—it was a celebration of community, progress, and the future of golf. Greenwood Golf was honored to attend and actively participate in this inspiring gathering, where we connected with golf leaders, learned about exciting new initiatives, and witnessed firsthand the groundbreaking developments that are set to shape the sport’s future.

Connecting with Golf Community Leaders

One of the most impactful aspects of the Expo was the opportunity to engage with other leaders in the African-American golf community. These connections are vital as we work together to promote diversity, inclusion, and excellence in the sport. The Expo provided a platform to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and forge partnerships that will help us continue to grow and support the Greenwood Golf community.

Among the many highlights of the Expo was the breakout session where we heard about the success of the Southwest Showcase. Held in November 2023, the three day competitive golf tournament was at the historic Cedar Crest golf course in Dallas, TX.

The event brought together the top 42 up and coming African American golfers to compete LIVE on the Golf Channel, an initiative that’s making waves in the golf world. This showcase is dedicated to highlighting the talents of African-American golfers, offering them a platform to compete and be recognized on a larger stage.

The success of the event was a powerful reminder of the importance of creating opportunities and visibility for underrepresented groups in the sport, and it has inspired us to explore similar initiatives within our own community.

Celebrating Success: Maulana Dotch’s Leadership at Hermann Park

The success of Maulana Dotch, General Manager of Hermann Park Golf Course in Houston, TX, was another standout moment at the Expo. As the one of few African-American LPGA Professionals to hold this position at a municipal golf course in Houston, Maulana’s achievements are a testament to her leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence. Hearing her story was both motivating and affirming, reinforcing the belief that with determination and support, the possibilities in golf are limitless.

The Future of Golf: Progress of the Upcoming TGL

The Expo also offered a glimpse into the future with an update on the highly anticipated TGL (The Golf League) League, set to launch in January 2025. The progress of this innovative league was one of the event’s most exciting highlights, promising to revolutionize the way we experience golf. The TGL’s unique blend of cutting-edge technology and competitive spirit is expected to attract a new generation of fans while offering current enthusiasts a fresh, dynamic way to enjoy the sport.
