Updated: 3 days ago

Charlotte, NC – September 16, 2024 – Greenwood GOLF is proud to announce that it has been named the official golf tournament director for the inaugural Black College Invitational Championship (BCIC). The exciting main event, which showcases high-level playoff basketball, will feature premier teams from the four top HBCU college basketball conferences. The tournament will bring together eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams in a single-elimination showdown from March 20-23, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Greenwood GOLF will host the official BCIC golf tournament on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the historic Harry L. Jones Golf Course just days before the basketball competition begins. This event provides local Charlotte golfers, travelers, HBCU fans, and supporters the unique opportunity to interact, connect, and network in the spirit of camaraderie before the main basketball event kicks off.

The proceeds from the golf tournament will be directed toward the main BCIC event, helping to support key aspects of the championship, including team travel costs, event expenses, as well as cost to enhance the overall fan and athlete experience. Greenwood GOLF is honored to play a role in this landmark event, which will promote athletic excellence and community engagement.

“We are thrilled to support HBCU basketball and bring both golf and basketball enthusiasts together for a weekend that celebrates community, competition, unity, and HBCU pride,” said Chris Word, CEO, Greenwood GOLF.
